THE CUSTOMER:

Noble Corporation is a leading offshore drilling company in the oil and gas industry. The company owns and operates one of the most modern, versatile, and technologically advanced fleets in the offshore drilling sector. Through its subsidiaries, Noble provides contract drilling services with a fleet of offshore drilling units, primarily focused on ultra-deepwater and high-specification drilling opportunities in both established and emerging regions worldwide.

OUR CHALLENGE:

This project involved the adaptation and technical translation of over 35 complex files into Brazilian Portuguese— a language that, despite sharing roots with European Portuguese, presents significant differences that require a meticulous and specialized approach.

Adding to the complexity, the client presented a unique challenge: the original files could not be used as a reference, meaning that no traditional “source” files were available. Instead, we were tasked with a complete recreation of each document’s design, which included full-scale modifications in colors, fonts, and structure; reconstruction of tables and content reorganization; and the addition of images, logos, and visual elements to optimize both aesthetics and functionality. This approach demanded an intensive post-processing effort, combining technical precision with creativity to meet the client’s structural and visual requirements.

Additionally, each file contained highly technical content, requiring the expertise of oil & gas subject matter expert translators to ensure precise and contextually accurate terminology. This level of detail is crucial in maintaining the quality and professionalism of the project.

THE SOLUTION:

Given the rigorous nature of this project, we implemented a continuous communication workflow with the client, allowing us to swiftly and efficiently address any challenges, ensuring flawless results.

We developed customized templates to guide the translation process, ensuring format consistency and establishing clear criteria for adapting images and tables. These templates undergo continuous revision and are adjusted as needed in direct collaboration with the client.

In close partnership with the client, we managed technical terminology, addressed linguistic queries, and ensured clarity in language use. Additionally, we assigned two highly qualified translators and two experienced editors, working together to guarantee precision and coherence in every aspect of this technical project.

We also agreed on a partial delivery to assess progress and ensure that our work meets the client’s expectations and requirements. This validation phase is essential to maintaining perfect alignment between our team and Noble Corporation.
