Case Study: Acolad
CLIENT: Acolad
SERVICE: Proofreading
FORMAT: 300-page manual
SUBJECT MATTER: Why Is Proofreading Important?
THE CUSTOMER:
Acolad group represented by the brands Acolad, TextMaster, and Ubiqus, combines its extensive expertise in technology, language, and various industry sectors to offer a unique portfolio of content and language solutions. Their mission is to meet all their customers’ content-related needs by providing advanced content solutions and innovative technology.
OUR CHALLENGE:
A few months ago, we worked on an interesting project alongside Acolad, which consisted of translating and editing a 300-page manual with technical terminology. This project contained a special instruction: we had to adhere to a previous translation carried out by another language service provider.
When we received the reference file, we noticed several issues in the original translation, such as grammatical and punctuation mistakes, problems with gender and number agreement, among others. Although we had to follow the provided file, we decided to correct these objective mistakes in our translation to ensure the quality of the content.
After we delivered our work, the client correctly pointed out that our translation did not strictly follow the reference file since we did not replicate the mistakes present in the original translation.

OUR SOLUTION:
In response to this situation, we sent the client an objective and detailed report on the issues found during our initial work. We also suggested that in order to avoid these quality issues further, a thorough proofreading of the original file was needed. The manual consisted of 300 pages from which over 100 pages contained mistakes.
The client understood the need to correct the original and agreed on the additional work. We dedicated 8 hours of intensive work to create a 40-page Word document, in which we described each of the mistakes found and the necessary amendments.
Despite being a complex task that required a lot of concentration and attention to detail, we managed to deliver a complete, neat, and, above all, error-free project.
This project reaffirms our belief that the proofreading step is essential before delivering any work to the client, as it is key to ensure the highest quality and the efficiency of the completed project.
We thank Acolad for trusting us, accepting the proposed changes, and continuing to choose us as a language service partner.
