Every DTP project can be divided into the following steps:
1. File Preparation: Each DTP project begins with preparing the materials. This process involves two main tasks:
– File Format Preparation for Translation: The files format is prepped and sent to the project manager (PM) to start the translation process.
– File Preparation for Designers: Information is organized into “packages” that are distributed to the designers handling the project.
During this stage, we ensure that all necessary fonts and images are available and that text segmentation is correct.
2. Guideline Creation: Working closely with the project manager, detailed design guidelines are crafted. These guidelines help designers to understand the task clearly, the freedoms and limitations they have, and identify the design tools they can use.
3. Assignment: After defining the scope and deadlines, we determine the number of designers needed to meet the client’s delivery date. Considering the estimated manhours required and the specific software needed for each task, the project manager (PM) assigns these tasks to designers based on their expertise with the necessary software and their availability. This allocation process is recorded in our production spreadsheets to maintain transparency and accountability.
4. Formatting: Following the established guidelines, each designated designer meticulously formats the translated document, ensuring it aligns seamlessly with the original design.
5. Review: The formatted document is then reviewed to ensure it meets the client’s guidelines. This is done by comparing the formatted document to the original files sidebyside, and cross-referencing against the client’s guidelines to ensure compliance with the specified acceptance criteria.
